‘THE TONIGHT SHOW’ RANKS AS BROADCAST TELEVISION’S #1 MOST-SOCIAL PROGRAM SEASON TO DATE

In Linear Nielsens, “Tonight” Delivers Its Biggest Total Viewership in a Non-NFL Week Since July

Wednesday’s “Tonight” & “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Gather Their Biggest Audiences on a Non-NFL Night in Five Months

NEW YORK — Nov. 17, 2020 — “The Tonight Show” is leading the season to date as broadcast television’s #1 most-social program, having generated 13.4 million Total Interactions (Source: Nielsen Social Content Ratings; Linear Window; 9/21/20-11/15/20; Broadcast Series).

Since its season premiere on Sept. 21, “Tonight” has accumulated the #1 most content responses (38 million), comments (1.0 million), new fans (1.5 million) and shares (3.6 million) among all broadcast TV shows across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube (Source: ListenFirst Media Brand Rankings, LF // TV UNIVERSE // EPISODIC; Broadcast; Content Responses, Comments, New Fans, Shares; Brand Type: TV Shows; 9/21/20-11/15/20).

In linear ratings for the week of Nov. 9-13, “Tonight” delivered a 0.26 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.459 million viewers. The 1.459 million is the biggest weekly audience for “Tonight,” excluding a week boosted by a primetime NFL lead-in, since July 27-31 (1.584 million).

At 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” averaged a 0.15 in adults 18-49 and 896,000 viewers overall, and ranked #1 in the hour versus CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” earned a 0.31 adult 18-49 rating and 1.693 million viewers overall, making it the most-watched “Tonight Show” excluding nights of primetime NFL lead-ins since Friday June 12 (1.742 million viewers). The Nov. 11 “Tonight” featured Michael Strahan, Brené Brown and musical guest Patty Smyth.

Wednesday’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” drew a 0.20 in 18-49 and 1.053 million viewers, the show’s most-watched telecast on a non-NFL night in more than five months, since Tuesday, June 2 (1.055 million). Wednesday’s guests were Ethan Hawke and Lewis Black.
