NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago will also host a live on-air chat featuring local consumer experts

CHICAGO, IL – (September 6, 2019) – As part of their ongoing commitment to help viewers with their consumer problems, NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago’s consumer investigative reporters Lisa Parker and Zully Ramírez from NBC 5 Responds and Telemundo Chicago Responde will report on viewers’ top consumer issues during the stations’ afternoon and evening newscasts beginning Monday, September 9 through Thursday, September 12. The stations’ weeklong efforts will culminate with a live on-air and digital chat on Friday, September 13 from 4pm to 6:30pm featuring Parker and Ramirez, and local consumer experts answering questions from viewers. NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago are home to NBC 5 Responds and Telemundo Chicago Responde, the only bilingual consumer investigative units in the market dedicated to answering and resolving consumers’ issues. Since 2016, NBC 5 Responds and Telemundo Chicago Responde have collectively returned more than $3 million dollars for Chicago-area viewers.

Discussion Topics for Monday, 9/9 – Thursday, 9/12:

  • NBC 5 News at 4pm // NBC 5 News at 10pm: Consumer Investigative Reporter Lisa Parker will report on the following consumer categories and issues: appliances, banking problems, car defects, contractors, home warranties, internet scams, unfair parking tickets, and wireless issues.
  • Noticiero Telemundo Chicago at 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm, 10pm: Consumer Investigative Reporter Zully Ramírez will discuss the following consumer topics for Spanish-speaking audiences: used cars, contractors, warranties, shipping delays, and breach of contract matters.

Live, On-Air Consumer Chat on Friday, 9/13:

  • NBC 5 Responds and Telemundo Chicago Responde consumer units host a live, on-air and digital/mobile chat from 4pm to 6:30pm.
  • Viewers can submit their consumer questions online at and through the “NBC Chicago” app. Spanish-speaking audiences can submit questions online at and through the “Telemundo Chicago” app.
  • Reporters Lisa Parker and Zully Ramírez will select questions at random and invite a panel of local consumer experts to answer viewers’ questions live, on-air.
  • Participating groups include: Better Business Bureau, Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, Citizens Utility Board, Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Illinois Attorney General.
  • Subject-matter experts focusing on Lemon Laws, Contracts, and Parking Tickets will also be available to answer viewers’ questions.
