SAN JOSE, CA – (December 21, 2020) – Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia/KSTS announced today that Libertad Pedraza has joined the station as a reporter and multi-media journalist for Noticiero Telemundo 48 weekdays at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 PM. In her role Pedraza will also create digital content for the station’s digital platforms.
Pedraza, whose first day at the station is today, will join Telemundo 48’s dynamic team of reporters to deliver live, local breaking news for the Bay Area’s Hispanic community.
“Libertad has a unique interest for human stories and connecting the immigrant community with the information they need to thrive,” said Rossyris Silva, Vice President of News at Telemundo 48. “We trust that her passion and commitment to her viewers will be a positive contribution to the Telemundo 48 news team.”
Pedraza was most recently a multi-media journalist and backup anchor at KFTV/Univision 21 in Fresno where she worked for three years covering the San Joaquin Valley’s biggest stories including immigration and farmworkers rights. During her time there she received an Emmy for her investigation Gotas de Esperanza about the water shortage in the fields of California’s Central Valley. Before Fresno, she worked in Denver for Entravision Communications and at RCN Televisión in Colombia.
A native of Colombia, Pedraza received a degree in Journalism, Communication and Media Studies from Universidad Externado de Colombia. She has been awarded a Golden Mike Award, an Edward Murrow Award, and several Northern California Emmys for her journalistic work.
