Las Vegas, NV – (September 24, 2018) – Telemundo Las Vegas / KBLR announced today that Marialcy Carreño has been named News Director for the station. In this role, she will be responsible for the overall performance of Noticiero Telemundo Las Vegas, its news department and all news productions across multiple media platforms. Carreño’s first day with Telemundo Las Vegas will be October 15.

Marialcy, an Emmy award winning journalist and RNTDA recipient in Northern California, is a news veteran with more than 25 years in broadcast and journalism. She has held various newsroom positions with increasing responsibility throughout the years. Most recently, Marialcy was Assistant News Director for Telemundo 39 / KXTX in Dallas/Fort Worth. Before this, she served as Executive Producer for Telemundo 48 Bay Area / KSTS and News Producer/Editor for Univision Communications in Fresno. Her previous experience, in her native country of Venezuela, include positions as general producer, reporter, writer/information coordinator and teacher.

Carreño earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello (UCAB) in Caracas, Venezuela. She also obtained a Post-graduate degree as teacher in higher education from Universidad Pedagogica Experimental Libertador.
