NBC 4 NEW YORK AND TELEMUNDO 47 ANNOUNCE NEW VIRTUAL WEATHER INSTRUCTION FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS, LED BY STATION METEORLOGISTS AND WEATHER EXPERTS

NEW YORK NY – (October 7, 2020) – NBC 4 New York / WNBC and Telemundo 47 / WNJU announced the return of their popular Weather Kids / Niños del Tiempo educational program for the fourth consecutive year. Tri-State Area elementary schools can visit nbcnewyork.com/weatherkids or telemundo47.com/ninosdeltiempo to apply for a virtual presentation with WNBC and/or WNJU’s award-winning weather teams. Schools selected for participation will be contacted in advance to set-up an on-line session that best fits their classroom requirements.

The unique digital program offers students a live, “real world” look into all-things weather. WNBC and WNJU experts will explain how everyday weather and forecasts are created using science, math and different experiments. They will demonstrate how their state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technology such as StormTracker 4/Teledoppler 47 can track weather conditions in real-time – while building accurate, 10-day forecasts. Both WNBC and WNJU are certified the most accurate in the Tri-State area by WeatheRate, an independent research service which tracks and compares television forecasts throughout the Tri-State area.

Over the last three years of the program, Storm Team 4 and La Autoridad en El Tiempo team members have worked with more than 3,100 students across the region, participating in 49 classroom and museum sessions in 12 different counties.
