FORT WORTH / DALLAS, TEXAS – (October 6, 2020) – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS’s Big Game Sunday sports anchor Newy Scruggs and producer Victor Nguyen were presented with the 2020 Lone Star Regional Sports Emmy Sportscast award for “Jason Garrett is Finally Fired by Jerry Jones.” The winning program featured in-depth coverage of the firing of Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, highlights and lowlights of Garrett’s tenure, social media reaction to Garrett’s dismissal and a discussion with Shan Shariff of 105.3 The Fan, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Scruggs.
