"Bay Area Revelations: Female Sports Icons" debuts Saturday, January 25 at 10 p.m.
SAN JOSE, CA – (January 15, 2020) – NBC Bay Area announced the return of its documentary series Bay Area Revelations in 2020 with “Female Sports Icons” airing on Saturday, January 25 at 10 p.m.
The Bay Area is home to some of the best female athletes in the world. They've won gold medals, made history and broken world records. In the latest installment of its award-winning documentary series, NBC Bay Area takes a look at how these female athletes are changing the game and paving the way for others.
“The level of greatness these women have been able to achieve in their respective sport by overcoming adversity and fighting for equality is just another example of the boundary pushing ways of the Bay Area,” said Stacy Owen, President and General Manager of NBC Bay Area. “In Female Sports Icons, we’re proud to bring these fascinating stories of some of the Bay Area’s most extraordinary athletes to our viewers.”
Female Sports Icons features interviews and personal stories from some of the Bay Area’s greatest female athletes including Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh Jennings, Brandi Chastain, Natalie Coughlin, Kristi Yamaguchi and Amy Chow. Also featured in the show, Kim Chambers, the first woman ever to swim from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge and Kim Stone, general manager of San Francisco's Chase Center.
The women share untold stories of adversity, self-doubt and the struggles they underwent to get to the top of their sport. Viewers will learn about how each of them experienced great achievements both in their community and on the world stage.
"Bay Area Revelations: Female Sports Icons" will debut Saturday, January 25 at 10 p.m. Encore presentations will air Tuesday, February 4 at 10 p.m. and Saturday February 15 at 9 p.m.
