SAN JOSE, CA – (June 10, 2020) – The Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded NBC Bay Area / KNTV and Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahía / KSTS a total of 22 Northern California Emmy® The 49th Annual Northern California Area EMMY® Awards were presented Saturday evening, June 6th for the first time via livestream only.

NBC Bay Area led the English-language stations with a total of seventeen Emmy® Awards across various categories. Today in the Bay was honored as best Daytime Newscast. The station’s dedicated investigative team, The Investigative Unit, received awards for various investigative reports including its Consumer Unit Responds and the series “Derailed.” NBC Bay Area spent months riding BART trains across the Bay Area to investigate how a once renowned transportation network became one of the most dangerous in the country. NBC Bay Area also received Emmy awards for its distinctive documentary series Bay Area Revelations and its lifestyle show California Live, as well as a number of awards for individual excellence.

Telemundo 48 made a powerful statement, earning the Overall Excellence Award and Best Newscast in both the daytime and evening categories, as well as special coverage of the 30th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake.
