SAN JOSE, CA– (August 3, 2020) – NBC Bay Area / KNTV and Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia / KSTS present their popular Clear The Shelters™ pet adoption campaign this month. This is the sixth consecutive year that NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48 present their popular pet adoption campaign to Bay Area communities. “We are proud to be able to present this year’s Clear the Shelters campaign through our digital platforms allowing the public to donate and navigate the adoption process virtually in light of the need to practice social distancing,” said Stacy Owen, President and General Manager of NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48. “Right now, shelters are in most need of monetary donations to quickly meet the most urgent needs. Funds raised from our Clear the Shelters campaign this year will help care for animals during and after this crisis.”
Throughout August, both stations will feature animal-related news stories to further raise awareness about the importance of pet adoptions, fostering pets, and other ways to support local animal shelters in the Bay Area.

About Clear The Shelters
Clear The Shelters™ / Desocupar Los Albergues® is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign that is spearheaded by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, a division of NBCUniversal. Every year, NBCUniversal’s TV stations (NBC and Telemundo owned stations), plus affiliated stations partner with local animal shelters and rescues in their communities to host Clear The Shelters events. NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear The Shelters campaign was inspired by a 2014 North Texas pet adoption event hosted by NBC 5 / KXAS and Telemundo 39 / KXTX and dozens of area shelters that resulted in the most adopted pets in one day for North Texas. Since 2015, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign has resulted in more than 410,000 pets finding new homes.
