NBC BAY AREA WINS NATIONAL EDWARD R. MURROW AWARD FOR MULTIMEDIA COVERAGE

SAN JOSE, CA -- (June 18, 2019) – The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awarded KNTV / NBC BAY AREA a national 2019 Edward R. Murrow Award for journalistic excellence for multimedia coverage. The Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize the best in electronic journalism produced by radio, television, and online news organizations around the world.

NBC Bay Area was recognized for its commitment to provide its audience with the best digital and social experience for a wide range of news coverage in 2018, from breaking news coverage of the devastating fire in the Northern California town of Paradise, to digital original features on the Bay Area housing crisis, traffic alternatives and stories that highlight the uniqueness of the Bay Area. The station was also recognized for multimedia coverage of investigative stories that included reporting on San Francisco’s diseased streets and the possible nuclear contamination at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, as well as digital original features that accompanied episodes on Sexual Revolutionaries and America’s Wine Country for the station’s Bay Area Revelations documentary series.

The national Edward R. Murrow Awards are presented annually by the RTDNA, the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism.
