WEST HARTFORD, CT (December 1, 2020) – Today, NBC Connecticut/WVIT and Telemundo Connecticut/WRDM announced the return of their "Connecting You to Joy - Season of Giving” campaign, which kicks off Tuesday, December 1, and will run until Friday, January 8. The goal of this initiative is to create awareness of social issues that are affecting local communities and find viable solutions to these issues. This impactful campaign will support local families and assist them in overcoming many of the ongoing obstacles they are facing due to the current pandemic.

WVIT and WRDM are partnering with local non-profits in the market to raise funds and help the community members thrive and overcome challenges. Season of Giving will offer viewers a unique platform to virtually donate towards different community necessities, allowing them to help their neighbors in need. The donations will provide them with food, clothing, shelter expenses, and even toys that will help grant many local kids wishes this Christmas. In addition to all these great ways of giving back to the community, the stations will be hosting, alongside their partners from the American Red Cross, a two-day blood drive in hopes of motivating viewers to donate blood and save lives this holiday.

“During these unprecedented times, it is more important than ever that we come together with our partners to leverage their ongoing efforts and help our community rise from this pandemic,” said Diane Hannes, President and General Manager of NBC Connecticut and Telemundo Connecticut. ”Through this initiative, we hope to help many families during the holiday season so they can benefit from receiving the essential things they need and can enjoy spending time with their loved ones.”

“Connecting You to Joy - Season of Giving” is a collaboration between Foodshare, CT Food Bank, CT Children’s Medical Center Foundation, WRCH Lite 100.5 “Christmas Wishes” and the American Red Cross.
