She suspects a brain tumor or inflammatory disease could be causing the seizures and orders a CT scan and spinal tap to find out. Then, cats always land on their feet, but after Reine's three-story fall, she'll need some rehabilitation to get her leg back to 100 percent. Will Reine sink or swim as resident rehab therapist Tracy McKenzie puts her on the underwater treadmill? Later, Cyril the cat is brought to Dr. Regan Williams to treat his high blood pressure. Since Cyril has a head tilt and has experienced brain bleeding, Dr. Williams consults Dr. Susan Cochrane to help solve the issue.

The two also learn that they have direct ties to James Howell, who owned a large iron works company and was an integral part in building the Brooklyn Bridge.

Dr. Regan Williams is consulted to determine if Rosie is a good candidate for surgery. Later, Dr. Debbie James finds herself faced with a bulldog named Lulu that has mysterious neurological issues. At the battlefield, Paul and Kalina learn that Austin was taken prisoner by the Confederate Army but escaped and hid in slave huts until he made his way back to the Union Army. Paul, a Vietnam veteran, connects his own experience and believes that being a combat vet is in his genes.
