BALA CYNWYD, PA – (July 31, 2018) – NBC10 Philadelphia/WCAU and Telemundo62/WWSI announced the return of their popular pet adoption campaign Clear the Shelters™. Launching in August and culminating with Clear the Shelters™ day on Saturday, August 18, the stations’ fourth annual Clear the Shelters™ pet adoption initiative will include the participation of nearly 50 local animal shelters and rescues from Greater Philadelphia. On August 18, animal shelters and rescues will offer waived pet adoption fees to help families adopt a new pet.
Last year, the NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear the Shelters™ campaign resulted in pets of all types finding new homes. At the Providence Animal Shelter in Media, a senior German Spitz dog named Scrappy, who had been waiting for a home for four months, was adopted by a Lansdowne family during 2017’s Clear the Shelters event. Last year, 4,837 animals were adopted from throughout the Greater Philadelphia region during the campaign. Nationally, NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear the Shelters™ effort has resulted in more than 150,000 pet adoptions.
