OZUNA REIGNS AT THE 2019 BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS ON TELEMUNDO BREAKING THE RECORD FOR MOST WINS IN ONE YEAR

Nicky Jam and Bad Bunny Follow on the List of Top Winners

 

Miami, FL – April 25, 2019 – The most prestigious night in Latin music was broadcast live on Telemundo tonight, showcasing an electrifying display of musical performances featuring some of the biggest Latin music stars, many world premieres, television debuts and surprise collaborations by top music acts. The evening began under the Las Vegas sun at Mandalay Bay Events Center, where music, film and TV stars graced the red carpet with stunning beauty and glamour. Ozuna reigned during the night and topped the winners list with a record-breaking eleven (11) awards followed by Nicky Jam (5) and Bad Bunny (4).

Ozuna nabbed the coveted Artist of the Year prize, as well as Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male; Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Solo; and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Male. The chart-topping song "Te Bote,” with Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam and Bad Bunny, earned him Hot Latin Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year, and Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event. Other accolades include Top Latin Album of the Year and Latin Rhythm Album of the Year for Odisea, Latin Pop Song of the Year for his feature on Reik’s "Me Niego" and Tropical Song of the Year for his feature on Romeo Santos’ "Sobredosis". Nicky Jam’s feature in J Balvin’s “X” garnered him Airplay Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year, in addition to the three wins for Te Botéwhich Bad Bunny also achieved, along with Social Artist of the Year.

Female top artist recipients included Shakira with two awards for Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female and Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo, and Natti Natasha for Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female. CNCO picked up three awards for Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Latin Pop Album of the Year for their album CNCO and Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Casper Magico, Nio Garcia and Darrell also won three awards each including Hot Latin Song of the Year; Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event and Streaming Song of the Year for the hit single "Te Bote". Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga received three wins for the coveted Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. J Balvin’s hit single “X” was recognized with two awards for Airplay Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year, while Romeo Santos also obtained two awards for Tropical Artist of the Year, Solo and Tropical Song of the Year for “Sobredosis.”

Other notable wins include Anuel winning Artist of the Year, New; Cardi B, garnering Crossover Artist of the Year; Daddy Yankee scoring for Digital Song of the Year for his song "Dura," and Luis Miguel honored with Tour of the Year. Artists with one award include Aventura for Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Chris Jeday for Producer of the Year; Christian Nodal for Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Solo; Juan Rivera Vazquez ‘Gaby Music’ for Songwriter of the Year; Lenin Ramírez for Regional Mexican Album of the Year with Bendecido; Raymix with Regional Mexican Song of the Year with “Oye Mujer”; Reik with Latin Pop Song of the Year with “Me Niego”; Victor Manuelle with Tropical Album of the Year for 25/7 and Wisin with Latin Pop Song of the Year with “Me Niego.” Billboard and Telemundo also recognized the outstanding 35-year career of Juan Luis Guerra, with 15 successful albums and over 30 million records sold worldwide, honoring him with the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award.

Renowned actress, TV host and influencer, Gaby Espino, hosted the 2019 awards, joined by special presenters who acted as co-hosts throughout the night including Bad Bunny, Carlos Vives, Mark Tacher, and Luis Fonsi. In addition, a wave of TV, film and music stars presented awards, including Ana Jurka, Dr. Ana Maria Polo, Chocquibtown, Elyfer Torres, Erick Elias, Erik Hayser, Eugenio Derbez, Gente de Zona, Isabela Moner, J.R.
