FORT LEE, NJ – April 6, 2020 – Freddy Oldenburg has been named Vice President of News for Telemundo 47 / WNJU, effective May 11. He will lead the station’s day-to-day news operations while growing WNJU’s joint news collaboration with sister station NBC 4 New York / WNBC.

A 12-time local Emmy® winner and a twenty-year, bilingual veteran news professional, Oldenburg joins Telemundo 47 from Dallas-Fort Worth where he worked as Vice President of News for Telemundo 39 / KXTX newsroom since 2017. There, Oldenburg led KXTX’s coverage of major breaking news stories including the 2019 trial of off-duty Dallas police officer Amber Guyger and the tragic 2018 shooting of Botham Jean. His previous roles include Vice President of News for Telemundo 48 / KSTS in the San Francisco Bay Area, Assistant News Director for Telemundo 52 / KVEA in Los Angeles and Executive Producer for Univision network in Miami. Oldenburg launched his career in broadcasting as an anchor and reporter for RCTV in Caracas, Venezuela.

Oldenburg earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He also earned a master’s degree in Communications from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He will be relocating to the Tri State area.
