MIRAMAR, FL – June 12, 2019 – So­­uth Florida’s most-watched station, WSCV / Telemundo 51 continues its commitment to viewers with the expansion of its political team. Mike Hernandez, a former Senior Advisor to Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, will serve as political analyst. He will contribute to Telemundo 51’s political team that features senior political reporter Marilys Llanos, political reporter for Tallahassee Ana Cuervo, and political reporter for Washington, D.C. Randy Serrano.

A seasoned government relations and public affairs expert, Hernández joins Telemundo 51 from Mercury Public Affairs, a bipartisan public affairs consulting firm, where he currently works as Senior Vice President since 2018. Before this, he served as the Director of Communications for Miami-Dade County for four years and was responsible for overseeing the county’s communications department, and all public information and marketing campaigns for Miami International Airport, PortMiami and the Water & Sewer Department. Prior to this, he served as Senior Director for Governmental Relations and Public Affairs at Penn Schoen Berland, a global research consultancy, working throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East, and Europe. Hernandez earned a master’s degree in Public Administration and bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida International University.
