MIRAMAR, FL – (December 04, 2018) – The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Telemundo 51 Miami / WSCV, NBC6 Miami / WTVJ Telemundo 31 Orlando / WTMO, Telemundo 49 Tampa / WRMD and Telemundo Puerto Rico / WKAQ-TV a combined total of 27 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards during the 42nd Annual awards gala held on Saturday, December 2, in Orlando, Florida.

Telemundo 51 won 13 awards across various categories including an award in the “Feature News Report – Serious Series” category for its comprehensive investigative report about cocaine smuggling out of Colombia and South America to the United States. NBC6 was recognized with seven Suncoast Emmy® awards including one award in the “Public - Current / Community Affairs” category for the station’s coverage of the massive march lead by the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL earlier this year. Telemundo 31 took home two awards, including the award for the special “Puerto Rico: Esperanza en Medio del Dolor” in the category of “Human Interest – News Series.” Telemundo 49 also won two awards including one in the category of “Societal Concerns” for the special report “Misiones Falsas.” Telemundo Puerto Rico took home three awards including one in the category of “Feature News Report – Serious Series” for “Ataque al Azar.”
