MIRAMAR, FL – (December 09, 2020) – The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Telemundo 39 / KXTX, NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXAS, Telemundo Houston/KTMD, Telemundo 40/KTLM, Telemundo 48/KTDO and Telemundo 60/KVDA with a combined 74 Lone Star Emmy® awards during the 18th annual awards gala that was held virtually on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Telemundo 39 won 20 awards across several categories, including “Evening Newscast,” “Feature News Report,” and “Weather Program Special” as well as “Promotion News Promo” for their “Cambio Climático” climate change special. NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth took home 13 awards, including one in the category of “Short Format Program” for the station’s local, informational, and entertainment show, Texas Today, which was developed and launched during the pandemic. Telemundo Houston was recognized with 14 Lone Star Emmy® awards, including the honors for “Breaking News Coverage” and “Community Service” for their “Juntos Podemos” initiative. Telemundo 40 also won 10 awards including “Journalistic Enterprise” and “Newscast -Evening-Smaller Markets” for their “Live From the Humanitarian Epicenter” special. Telemundo 48 got nine honors among several categories, including “Politics/Government – News Single Story” for their “Vigilantes Nocturnos De La Frontera.” Telemundo 60 took home eight awards including one in the “Best Evening Newscast” category.
