The new – YO DECIDO – PSA campaign seeks to inform and empower Hispanics to register to vote in and participate in this year’s elections
Telemundo Denver’s election coverage will include a weekly news political segment, thirty- second educational spots and in depth stories focused on this year’s candidates and amendments on the 2018 ballot
DENVER, CO – (September 27, 2018) – Telemundo Denver / KDEN-TV and the Colorado Secretary of State announced today the launch of a new – YO DECIDO – PSA campaign that focuses on informing and empowering Hispanics in Colorado to register to vote and participate in this year’s elections. This new effort is launched on the heels of a successful voter registration campaign between KDEN and the Colorado Secretary of State from earlier this year. KDEN’s “YO DECIDO” PSA campaign will feature Telemundo Denver anchors and will inform Hispanic voters about the importance of their participation in November’s mid-term elections.
As the only Spanish-language local television station in Colorado that delivers local news to Spanish-speaking audiences across all platforms, including on-air, digital and mobile app, Telemundo Denver’s “Decisión 2018” coverage will feature educational spots, and in-depth news stories about this year’s candidates running for various offices and the amendments that voters will need to decide on this November.

As a result of Telemundo Denver’s voter registration campaign that launched earlier this year, the Colorado Secretary of State has reported an increase in Hispanic registered voters of up to 11% during particular voter registration drives.
“We’re proud that Colorado is the state that leads the nation in voter registration and we’re excited to continue our partnership with Telemundo Denver to better serve Colorado’s Spanish-speaking voters,” said Secretary of State Wayne Williams.

“Desde el Capitolio” (From the Capitol) –Telemundo Denver is the only Spanish-language local television station in Colorado that delivers a weekly political segment every Tuesday at 5 p.m. from the state Capitol. The weekly segment “Desde el Capitolio” is hosted by news anchor Rosy Zugasti and features interviews with candidates and the latest political news. This fall, “Desde el Capitolio” will inform viewers on the candidates’ position on key policy issues and election process.
Decisión 2018: Educational spots – Beginning October 2, Telemundo Denver will deliver a series of thirty-second educational spots that will air all day focused on helping viewers understand ballot issues, proposed amendments and feature candidate profiles.
On- Air Coverage – KDEN’s newscast, Noticiero Telemundo Denver, will begin Election Day coverage on October 22 with in-depth news stories that affect the Hispanic community including immigration, education, healthcare, affordable housing, employment and transportation. Rosy Zugasti will lead a discussion panel every Tuesday from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. during the “Desde el Capitolio” show. Each issue will be discussed with political experts that will analyze the candidates’ campaigns on those particular issues and how they differ from each other.
