TELEMUNDO STATIONS DOMINATE LATE NEWS DURING MAY 2019, DELIVERING #1 MOST-WATCHED NEWSCASTS

Telemundo stations in 10 markets outrank all other Spanish-language TV stations in their markets for late news

MIRAMAR, FL – (May 23, 2019) – As Telemundo stations continue to redefine the way that Spanish-language news, weather, consumer and investigative news is delivered to local audiences thanks to the Telemundo Station Group’s multi-year strategic plan that includes significant investments in the stations, the Telemundo Station Group today announced that Telemundo stations in key markets are solidifying their positions as their communities #1 source for local news.

According to Nielsen, at the close of the May 2019 survey period, the Telemundo stations in New York (WNJU), Miami (WSCV), Houston (KTMD) and Dallas (KXTX) ranked #1 for late news (11pm/10pm CT) in any language, among A18-34, A18-49 and A25-54, while Telemundo in Tampa (WRMD) had more A18-34 tune in for late news, regardless of language. In addition, Telemundo stations in Orlando (WTMO), Philadelphia (WWSI), and Boston (WNEU) were their communities #1 go-to source for Spanish-language late news among A18-34, A18-49, A25-54. WZDC in Washington, D.C. was the most-watched station for Spanish-language late news among A18-34 and A18-49. In Denver, KDEN delivered the #1 most-watched Spanish-language late news among A18-49 and A25-54, while in Sacramento, KCSO Telemundo ranked #1 for late news among Spanish-language A18-34.

During May 2019, Telemundo 51 in Miami continued to be South Florida’s unrivaled local news leader, ranking #1, regardless of language, from sign-on to sign-off for 15 consecutive months among A18-49 and A25-54. In New York, Telemundo 47 (WNJU) re-solidified its position as the #1 Spanish-language TV station for local news for A18-34 at 6am, Midday, 5pm, 6pm and 11pm. In Dallas, Telemundo 39 (KXTX) ranked #1 for late news among all three key demos, regardless of language. This is the first time KXTX ranks #1 since LPM began in 2006 in that market.
