Fifth annual Clear the Shelters™ pet adoption drive will be held at more than 120 animal shelters and pet rescue locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
Special Friday kick-off event at North Shore Animal League America will feature NBC 4 New York Traffic Reporter Lauren Scala and Telemundo 47 Acceso Total Co-Host Orietta De Luque
NEW YORK, NY – (August 15, 2019) – Members of the media are invited to cover this Saturday’s Clear the Shelters™ mega-adoption event, hosted by more than 120 animal shelters and pet rescue locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. All locations will offer a variety of incentives to adopt a new pet. These can include low cost or waived pet adoption fees. The campaign will kick off Friday afternoon on Long Island, with a special adoption event at North Shore Animal League America featuring NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 on-air personalities. On Saturday, the campaign will continue with a special appearance scheduled from Ryan Eggold, who plays Dr. Max Goodwin on NBC’s popular medical drama New Amsterdam. Eggold will appear at Bideawee’s East Side Manhattan location at noon.
With most shelters and rescues experiencing severe overcrowding in the summer months due to spring litters, Clear the Shelters™ was created to help relieve the impact through a massive, community-wide call-to-action. The Tri-State campaign is led by NBC 4 New York/WNBC and Telemundo 47/WNJU and has connected over 16,000 homeless pets with forever homes since 2015.
