SAN JOSE, CA – (January 21, 2021) – Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia/KSTS announced that Yomara Lopez will join the station as reporter and multi-media journalist for Noticiero Telemundo 48. In her role Lopez will also create content for the station’s digital platforms as well as report for the stations OTT newscasts.
Lopez, whose first day at the station will be on Monday February 1st, will join Telemundo 48’s dynamic team of reporters to deliver live, local breaking news for the Bay Area’s Hispanic community.
Lopez joins Telemundo 48 after working for KUVS-TV Univision Sacramento as a multi-media journalist and anchor since 2018. During her time there she received an Emmy award for her coverage of the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California's Butte County. She also reported on several political stories from the state’s capital including the California legislative session.
“Yomara brings a wealth of experience having covered some of the most important stories from our state capital,” said Rossyris Silva, Vice President of News at Telemundo 48. “Her experience will help strengthen our newscasts and our stations political coverage as we enter a new presidential era.”
Before working in Sacramento Lopez worked at Telemundo Austin in Texas where she covered the Texas legislative session and stories that directly impacted the immigrant community. Prior to that she worked at Telemundo Oklahoma in Oklahoma City where she investigated cases of homicides and disappearances in the Hispanic community.
Lopez is a native of Bogotá, Colombia. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Communications from Pace University in New York.
