The Billboard Latin Music Awards, produced and broadcast by Telemundo, is the only awards show to honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music as determined by Billboard's renowned weekly charts. Latin music’s longest running, and most prestigious awards show will broadcast LIVE on Telemundo from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. The show will also air simultaneously on Spanish-language entertainment cable network, Universo, and throughout the Americas via Telemundo Internacional. Finalists, and the eventual winners, reflect performance of new recordings on Billboard’s albums and songs charts during a one-year period from the rankings dated February 2, 2019 through this year's January 25 charts. Billboard’s rankings, based on album sales, digital track sales, streaming data and monitored radio airplay provided by Nielsen Music/MRC Data and social media data provided by Next Big Sound, are the world's most authoritative music charts.  

Award categories for the event include Top Latin Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Song of the Year, Tour of the Year and Composer of the Year, among others. Also presented on the show are Billboard’s prestigious discretionary awards including the Spirit of Hope Award, Hall of Fame Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards will coincide with Billboard’s Latin Music Week, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture, and entertainment.
