Cristina Schwarz is the President and General Manager of Telemundo 47 New York / WNJU, the NBCUniversal-owned television station serving the Hispanic community in the New York tri-state area. In this role, which she has held since 2014, Schwarz is responsible for the overall management of the station’s broadcast, sales, marketing and digital operations.
As a seasoned media veteran with more than three decades of local, national and international experience, Schwarz joined the Telemundo Station Group after working for Univision Cable Networks in Miami as the Vice President of Programming and Production. In this role, she oversaw the company’s portfolio of cable networks including De Película, De Película Clásico, Telehit, Ritmoson Latino, FOROtv, Univision tlnovelas and Bandamax. Before this, Schwarz served as Vice President of Programming and Production for Galavision and led her own business, CSLR, Ltd., where she consulted for several media companies based internationally and within the United States.
Prior to this, Schwarz served as the Vice President and General Manager for 12 years for three Univision television stations in the New York market: Univision 41 New York (WXTV) and UniMas Nueva York (WFUT and WFTY). Before joining the Univision Station Group, Schwarz led her own business, CSLR, Ltd., where she consulted for several media companies based internationally and within the United States.
Schwarz has led teams to earning numerous prestigious awards, including: Emmys, Gracies, Edward R. Murrows, Associated Press and local grass-roots community organizations. Schwarz is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and a member of the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Federation.
A native of Santiago, Chile, Schwarz grew up in various South and Central American countries. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in marketing and management from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She resides in New Jersey.
