Jorge H. Carballo is the President and General Manager of NBC 6 / WTVJ and Telemundo 51 / WSCV, NBCUniversal’s stations serving English and Spanish-language viewers in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. Carballo is responsible for the overall management of the stations’ broadcast news/digital, sales, marketing/promotions, community affairs, and operations/technology teams. He was named to this role in November 2019 after working as President/GM of Telemundo 51 for seven years.
With a career that spans more than 30 years in Miami local TV and radio newsrooms, including 26 years at WSCV in both sales and station management roles, Carballo helped WSCV become South Florida’s news leader. Under Carballo’s leadership, Telemundo 51 experienced unprecedented ratings wins across various dayparts among key demographic groups, regardless of language. Before joining NBCUniversal, Carballo held local sales positions at South Florida media outlets including Univision 23 / WQBA, and Radio and Hispanic International Television. Carballo launched his sales career selling local cable television ads.
Carballo is a graduate of the University of Miami and is on the board of The Florida Broadcasters Association. He resides in South Florida with his wife, children and grandchildren.
