Norma Kuhling

Dr. Ava Bekker, "Chicago Med"

Norma Kuhling plays the outspoken Dr. Ava Bekker, a gifted trauma surgeon from South Africa who first appeared in the season two finale of the NBC drama “Chicago Med.”

Born and raised in New York, Kuhling started acting in plays from a young age, making her theater debut in “Moonchildren” by Michael Weller at the Berkshire Theatre Festival. She also has a background in ballet and Dunham technique, as well as classical piano and singing.

She trained at Double Edge Theatre, focusing on Grotowski-based physical theater before attending LAMDA, the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Soon after graduation, she booked a role in Scott Hicks’ independent film “Fallen,” alongside Lola Kirke and Jeremy Irvine. Her previous television work includes a recurring role on the USA Network series “Falling Water.”

Kuhling recently completed filming a lead role in “Fourteen,” an independent film directed by Dan Sallitt.

When not filming on location, Kuhling lives in London.
